You can take two bags into the cabin for free: one cabin bag (56 x 45 x 25cm) and one personal item or ‘handbag’ (40 x 30 x 15cm). Each bag can weigh up to 23kg, provided you can lift them into the overhead locker unaided.
Standard checked bags in Economy and Premium Economy have a 23kg limit. Max Dimensions 90 x 75 x 43cm (35 x 30 x 17in). Passengers in Business (Club) and First Class have a higher weight allowance of 32kg per bag.
No, British Airways does not permit passengers to pool, share, or combine baggage allowances, even if travelling together in the same booking. Each bag is linked to an individual passenger. You can check your baggage allowance in their dedicated bag calculator.
If a bag exceeds the 23kg weight limit (up to 32kg) or the standard dimensions (90 x 75 x 43cm), a fixed heavy or oversized bag charge of 65 GBP / 75 EUR / 100 USD per bag applies.
Infants under 2 years old (excluding Economy Basic fares) are allowed one 23kg checked bag plus two essential items, such as a collapsible pushchair, car seat, or travel cot, free of charge.
