Air Canada passengers are permitted one carry-on bag measuring up to 55 x 40 x 23cm for overhead locker storage, plus one personal item of up to 43 x 33 x 16cm that must fit under the seat in front. Both items are included free of charge on most fares. Checked baggage allowances vary depending on your fare type and destination, and can be added at the time of booking or managed through your Air Canada account online.
While there is no specific weight limit, you must be able to store the bag in the overhead bin unassisted.
Most passengers are allowed one standard carry-on bag and one personal item. However, Economy Basic fares for travel within Canada, the US, Mexico, and the Caribbean only include one personal item; standard carry-ons are not permitted for these fares.
A personal item must fit under the seat in front of you and not exceed 43 x 33 x 16 cm (17 x 13 x 6 inches). Examples include a purse, laptop bag, small backpack, or camera bag
Air Canada strictly enforces size limits. If your bag exceeds the dimensions or if overhead bins are full, it must be checked, and additional baggage fees may apply.
If traveling with an infant on your lap, you are permitted one additional standard carry-on item for the child's belongings. Strollers and car seats can also be checked free of charge at the gate or counter.
Standard checked bags must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches) in total linear dimensions and 23 kg (50 lbs) in weight. Fees and the number of included bags vary significantly based on your fare type and destination.
