The Do.More. Series. Real people. Real stories. Real acts of doing more.
For Photographer Matt Porteous, 'doing more' meant leaving behind a successful career to pursue his dreams, becoming Founder of Ocean Culture Life and photographing the Royal Family.
Throughout childhood, Matt felt unable to express himself through words. Instead, at 7-years-old, through the lens of an underwater Minolta camera, he learnt how to communicate through capturing the world around him.
Growing up in Jersey, there was a real push to follow a career in finance or trade. So, becoming a mason felt like a path Matt had to take. Here, he spent years working his way up. But despite making money and leading his own business he felt he lacked purpose. The constant in Matt’s life was the camera, bringing him a confidence and clarity.
At the age of 30, something shifted. Building a website to showcase the photos he’d accumulated over the years, there was a determination to turn his passion into work. It was now or never.
Matt knew there would be nobody to show him the way. It was up to him to make it there himself.
